- How do I add the daily-poem widget to my home screen?
- On your iPhone or iPad, touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the app icons start to jiggle. Tap the + button in the top-left corner (or tap Edit → Add Widget on newer iOS versions). In the search field, type Haiku, choose your preferred widget size (small, medium, or large), then tap Add Widget. Place it where you like, then tap Done. The widget will refresh with a new poem each day.
- How do I switch between reading themes?
- Open the Settings tab inside Haiku and choose a theme. Haiku ships with four themes (including the default Daylight) so you can match the app to your reading environment - bright daytime, dim evening, or somewhere in between. Your selection applies immediately across the whole app.
- How do I cancel my Haiku Plus subscription?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel: open the iOS Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Haiku, then tap Cancel Subscription. This works for both the yearly and the monthly plan. If you are on the 7-day free trial, you must cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged - cancelling on the last day is fine; cancelling after the trial converts triggers the renewal. Panda Taps LLC has no access to your billing details.
- How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
- Sign into your new device with the same Apple ID you used to buy Haiku Plus, then open Haiku, go to the Settings tab, and tap Restore Purchases. Your active subscription or lifetime entitlement will be restored automatically. No receipt, no account, no email - Apple handles the entitlement lookup.
- How is my reading data handled?
- All reading history, highlights, and favorites are stored locally on your device. Haiku does not require an account or sign-in, and uses no analytics or third-party tracking. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
- Why are some poems locked?
- The free tier of Haiku gives you a curated starter set - a daily poem plus a hand-picked selection from the full library, enough to live with the app for a while. Haiku Plus unlocks the full library: every one of the 3,000+ poems from all 128 poets, with no limits on favorites, highlights, or collections.
- Why don't all poems labeled "haiku" look like haiku?
- Honest answer: the corpus uses a heuristic form classifier that examines line counts, syllable patterns, and structural cues. The classifier is imperfect on short verse, and some poems get bucketed as "haiku" or other forms when a human reader would label them differently. We're improving the classifier in upcoming releases. If you spot a misclassification, email us with the poem title and what the correct form should be - we'll review it.
- How do I save a poem as a favorite or highlight a line?
- While reading a poem, tap the heart icon to add it to your favorites. To highlight a line, touch and hold the line until the menu appears and choose Highlight. Favorites and highlights live in their own tabs and persist across launches. They are stored only on your device.
- Does Haiku work offline?
- Yes. The full poem corpus and all author biographies ship inside the app. Haiku works fully offline once installed - no network connection needed to read, search, favorite, or highlight. The only network calls the app makes are Apple's own StoreKit calls when you start or restore a subscription.
- How do I delete my data?
- All data is stored locally on your device. To delete: open a favorite or highlight inside the app and swipe to delete, or uninstall the app to wipe all reading history, favorites, highlights, and streak data in one step. There is no cloud copy.
