The pattern is simple. Every analogue method tracks points, and pickleball scoring is not made of points alone. Traditional side-out scoring needs the serving side, the server number, the side-out, and the 0-0-2 start, and there is no way to click a wristband for any of those.
What actually stops the arguments
- Say the whole score before every serve. All three numbers, out loud. This is a rule, not a courtesy, and it resolves most disputes before they start.
- Have one agreed source of truth. Not four memories. Whatever you use, everyone looks at the same thing.
- Make undo possible. Rallies get replayed and calls get reversed. A method you cannot walk backwards guarantees a stalemate at 9-9.
- Make it readable from the baseline. A score you have to walk to the net to read is a score nobody checks.
