How does bowling scoring actually work?

A strike scores 10 plus your next two rolls; a spare scores 10 plus your next one roll; an open frame scores the pins you knocked down. That bonus chaining is why 12 strikes make a 300 game, and why the app shows a live running score plus your maximum possible score while you bowl.

How much is a turkey worth in bowling?

Between 60 and 90 points. A turkey is three strikes in a row; under USBC Rule 2 a strike scores 10 plus your next two deliveries, so the first of the three banks a full 30 and the other two depend on what you throw next. Two misses after it total 60; two more strikes total 90.

How is bowling handicap calculated?

Most leagues use a percentage of the gap between your average and a basis score - commonly 90% of (220 minus your average). A 160-average bowler gets 54 pins a game, and 198 is not anyone's handicap. The app calculates USBC-style handicap from your real average, using your league's basis and percentage.

What's a good bowling average?

Casual bowlers average 100-140; steady league bowlers land in the 160s-180s; 200+ on a house shot is a strong amateur. The app tracks your true average overall, per league, and per center - and charts the trend so you can watch it climb.

Can the app tell me which spares I keep missing?
